Esta fue la primera adaptación de una novela de Stephen King al cine. De la mano de Brian Di Palma este film mezcla el Terror con el Drama, ya que nos muestra todos los problemas que atraviesa nuestra protagonista (Sissy Spacek, nominada al Oscar por este papel).
La trama de la película se centra en Carrie, una tímida chica, sometida por el fanatismo religioso de su madre, la que no deja que tenga amigos ni que salga de su casa. Marginada por sus compañeras de escuela, victima de burlas, el clásico "Patito feo" de todo colegio.
Pero esto ira cambiando, cuando Carrie se de cuenta que posee un extraño don, la Telequinesis...Se viene el baile de fin de curso, y uno de los jóvenes la invitara para ir con el, Carrie acepta, en contra de los pensamientos de su madre, y esto no es todo, esto genera recelo al resto de sus compañeras, que le prepararan una burla que pasara los limites, y esto desencadenara en la ira de Carrie y un trágico desenlace...

La escena donde Carrie es bañada con sangre de cerdo durante la coronación del baile es uno de los momentos clásicos de cine y ha sido repetido y parodiado en innumerable ocasiones por otros films y series de tv.
La película es buena, y el gancho del final con la mano saliendo de la tumba para agarrar a la única sobreviviente es un buen recurso para la época.
He leido el libro de King y debo decir que, a pesar del buen trabajo de De Palma, el best seller presenta mayores situaciones de terror/suspenso que, tal vez por la época, no pudieron ser llevadas a la pantalla.
